Woke up to this swell on the south side of Swami’s and a kinda post-apocalyptic fog vibe and I knew it was going to be a good day. We hung out on the ocean for awhile then decided it was time for a change of scene. We hit up McGill’s Skateshop then headed to this place:
Good Jebus is Encinitas skatepark gnarly. That’s the half pipe from the 2003 X-Games, and there’s two bowls that both hit vert and a street section with (of course) another vert wall just thrown in casually. But the mini ramps are also very nice and much more my style. I believe the whole thing was built by Team Pain, so great job to them once again. Apparently there’s plans to re-do the whole thing with concrete so hopefully that comes to fruition.
After that we headed down to Pacific Beach to have some fish tacos and some cold beer with my buddy, and skater and painter extraordinaire, Sean Dumont. Sean turned us on to this place:
